The annual Chinese Cultural Day at Jiaxing British Columbia Offshore School is back! “Do you not see the Yellow River come from the sky, running into the sea and never coming back?” China’s civilization is just like the Yellow River, which rushes continuously and unceasingly. Traditional Chinese culture is profound, with a long history of 5,000 years and a thousand years of precipitation. Today, we are here together to appreciate the traditional culture that stretches over thousands of years.
In ancient times, fans were often used as gifts to others, signifying good wishes and prayers; therefore, we have “Moonlight thoughts”. The fans in the dancers’ hands are gracefully like a swan and agilely like a Chinese dragon.
The word-search and spelling game was even more thrilling. Once the team members had gathered in various places, they started searching for the command. They searched for traces of red envelopes in various places and then searched for places or Chinese characters to spell out idioms based on the words and phrases in the red envelopes. Remember that one of the most cerebral location clues was “nonhuman brain, the antonym of on.” Who would have thought this would be hidden under a computer? During the trading of Chinese characters, we went through a lot of verbal battles to answer the historical questions, and we gained a lot from our unremitting efforts and difficulties.
The highlight of the whole event was a Hanfu catwalk! From ancient times to modern times, experience time and space travel. First on stage is the ancient Chinese dress. The girls’ skirts gently spread outward with their walking steps, carrying the unique delicacy and spirituality of young girls. Cinnabar-colored skirts swayed with the fish lanterns like a bright wind, with warmth spread out. Relatively more mature, some of the chevron skirts let the girl add a quiet elegance. Light colors for their eyebrows were painted with a hint of sadness. Next on the list is the clothing of the Republican era. The girls in cheongsams carried a languid but not unattractive look on their bodies, and their high heels stepped on people’s hearts one step at a time. Character cosplay brought the whole atmosphere to a climax.
