On October 30th, we celebrated the Chinese Cultural Day. As members of a very cultured country, we participated in many traditional Chinese activities, including mask making, fan painting, and seal carving. We enjoyed adding Chinese elements to the fans, masks, and seals using paint while traditional Chinese music played as the background. Our unique and awesome artwork really demonstrated the creativity and imagination from the students who love their Chinese culture.
Besides that, we also had a Chinese-style costume show, with students wearing different types of traditional Chinese clothes. Most impressively, Mr. O’Ryan, Principal of Jiaxing BCOS, was dressed in Han-style clothes and brandished a sword, and Mr. Wu dressed like Huo Yuanjia. Additionally, the students also did a good job in the poetry reading. Everyone was impressed by the performance of Team Orca which presented their poem by singing it, with a teammate dancing during the performance. It really was a feast for the eyes. Last but not the least, we also tried some traditional games, such as shuttlecock and pitch pot.
The Chinese Cultural Day showed that the students were energetic as they were participating in the games. We are proud to be the inheritors of such a splendid Chinese culture.
