In China, every year, the number of people that die of cancer reaches 2.7 million, which means 7500 people leave the world because of cancer every day. Therefore, cancer research becomes more and more important. In order to support cancer research and to promote the significance of cancer research to everyone in our community, students at Jiaxing BCOS participated actively in Terry Fox activities. Activities included a group t-shirt design contest, presentations, fundraising and running.
T-shirt design:
The T-shirt design is a new Terry Fox activity this year, with the aim of making every student use his/her creativity to enhance awareness of cancer research and communicating ideas to everyone. During the design process, students exchanged opinions and realized the strength of teamwork. After the completion of the design, students and teachers also uploaded T-shirt photos of each team’s shirts to the social media platform, WeChat, for public voting. Surprisingly, the number of people who read the voting page is about 37,000! This number indicates the influence of this activity and the importance of
Fundraising:
This year, Jiaxing BCOS raised 19097RMB! Fundraising is one of the major purposes of our Terry Fox activities. Students not only donate their own pocket money, but also spread the message of supporting cancer research on various kinds of social media, and encourage people to join in and work together for cancer research.
Presentation:
During preparation for the presentation, teachers gave students suggestions and supervised them to practice so they could ensure that students gave their best effects to this presentation. Every morning, in the form of a group, students reported the general plan of this activity in front of the whole school, talking about their achievement and giving a reflection for next year’s activities. The speech is not only a test for students, but also raises people’s awareness
Terry Fox Run:
The Terry Fox Run is also a way to show our support for cancer research. The running activity lasted only half an hour because of the air condition outside, but Terry Fox’s spirit and thoughts were passed on.
Through the whole school’s efforts, all students and teachers hope that curing cancer will no longer be a difficulty. The cancer research can get a technological breakthrough in the near future.
