At 10:00 on April 26th, 2019, all students and teachers from Jiaxing Senior High BCOS assembled on the track for annual Terry Fox Run.

One week before the Run, students from BCOS has already started preparing for the donations. The whole school was divided into groups, and the students made digital posters about Terry Fox Run and posted them online via social media. Also, they encouraged their families and friends to view, like and share this activity with others, to raise money and awareness for cancer research. The students have received over 10,000 likes on social media, up to April 26th.

On April 26th, at principal Mercer’s behest, all teachers and students started the 40 minutes’ “Marathon of Hope”. In the following interview, we found out that some of the students ran to pray for the cancer patients; some of them recalled their family or friends that once suffered in cancer and decided to contribute to cancer research, in order to help more people receive effective treatment in time; more of them hoped to bring the patients hope and encouragement, supporting them to fight against the disease.

Additionally, the youngest participant of the Run was an eight-month-old baby. Though she just learned to crawl, she joined the other participants with her parents, trying hard to “crawl for the cure”.

Meanwhile, there were also parents of the students that joined our running. Every year, the Terry Fox Run in Jiaxing Senior High BCOS has gained support and encouragement from parents, and they come join the running with their children.

Though the Terry Fox Run has finished, the social responsibilities in every member of Jiaxing BCOS have not come to an end. We will continue supporting and joining in volunteer and charity activities in our community.
