In the Asdan business simulation competition in Shanghai international school of BANZ from April 15th to 16th, the three teams, including 22 students from Jiaxing BCOS won 2 Silver prizes and 1 Bronze prize respectively through their excellent performance. In addition to the awards, the students not only gained knowledge of running a business, but also performed well as a team.

ASDAN Business Competition simulates real business operations and actual conflict, and it is also a comprehensive learning experience. It combines business, economics, mathematics, English and other knowledge in different areas. Students improve their speech, operation and social cooperation skills through group work and communication.

The whole business competition is mainly divided into three parts. The first is the trading auction. Each company had the same amount of money to start with, then through two rounds of auctions they auction off machines and trade wood, bricks and metal with other teams to see which company can build the most houses at the end of the auction. Second is the road show financing link. The company team will introduce and analyze the special and unique selling points and advantages of their products in turn to try their best to attract investors. The most important part is the operational decision. The contestants have to decide on their company’s production levels and pricing. They also have to evaluate labor allocation, salaries, and so on.

This is a memorable experience, and all the participants talked a lot with our journalist. “I learned a lot during the competition.” said Lisa, from company 7, Nexus, which is composed of BCOS students. “First of all, as a first-time participant, I have improved my English-speaking skills and my ability to work with others. My team has successfully advanced to the national competition with the concerted efforts of our group members. In the following WYEF competition, I hope our team will keep up the momentum of this competition and continue to win awards!”

My biggest takeaway from the three-day Asia Business Competition was that I felt more connected to the outside world. We were able to connect with many other schools on a multi-dimensional business level and meet face-to-face with influential students outside of BCOS.” says Martin, CEO of Team Nexus. As he said, the business competition is more than a competition, it is a great opportunity to learn from each other and improve with other participants. The exciting competition has them all looking forward to the next competition and can’t wait to take it to the next level. “I’m already looking forward to the WYEF showdown, hopefully I can leave a final beautiful memory of my high school career before I go abroad!”

Generally speaking, the Asdan Business Simulation provides an excellent opportunity for international students to get an early glimpse into the world of business and learn about the processes and challenges of business operations. Such experiences can not only help students better understand business operations, but also cultivate their innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities. Such activities will have a positive impact on students’ future career development.
