In this season for chasing dreaming, Jiaxing BCOS’s girls soccer team won third place at the soccer tournament which was a perfect period for this soccer season. This time, we focused on interviewing Mr. V, the new coach of the girl soccer team. Next, let’s talk about his experience, training thoughts and expectations for the girls’ soccer team.

Mr. V’s soccer experience has begun at the age of four. He worked for the school team and started to show his talent, since junior high school. Meanwhile, he also joined the high school, district, and city soccer teams, which means that he had at least one soccer training every day. However, too much training also led to serious knee injuries. Therefore, five years ago he quit playing soccer.

Although it is first time for Mr.V to be a soccer coach, his assistant teaching experience is actually very rich. In the interview, he said that in terms of coaching soccer, he has helped other coaches, and he was a captain on a lot of the team, especially when they had coaches who did not know many things about soccer. He would offer some suggestions to coaches and provide assistance within his capacity.

As the new coach for the girl soccer team, Mr. V also said that he enjoyed the game, to teach new players the basic rules, and to encourage them as much as he could. In terms of discussing the soccer training, Mr. V said that the team actually has lost some outstanding players, due to the graduation of the last Grade 12 class. Mr. V as well as many experienced players taught the basic rules and arranged different positions for the new players. Mr.V believes that although this is very challenging, the players will adapt as quickly as they can, and try to win for the school’s reputation. In the first game, our school and SIP’s girl soccer team started their first game of the season. Although the result was unsatisfactory, the score did not depress the player’s enthusiasm and ambition. On the contrary, everyone became more motivated to participate in training to improve their skills, so that they can win the next game.

Mr. V also talked about his thoughts. He believes that teamwork is a very important factor in a soccer game. Summing up the experience of the last game, he felt that players just need to work better as a team and trust each other, rather than improving their skills. Once they can do that, it would be a lot better. Indeed, when the players started to collaborate and build tacit understanding, they were in a much better circumstance during the training process.

With such a responsible and patient soccer coach, the players also praised him a lot. Faced with the appreciation from the players, Mr. V is very modest. He shared his thoughts that “I think patience is good to have for sports and being patient is part of it become enjoyable. And if I was not patient, I don’t think many people would play soccer and I don’t think it would be fun, and so, I think the patience from both of us to each other is important. You will not be good overnight, it takes practice.”

At the end of the interview, Mr. V emphasized that soccer should bring fun to students. He also enjoys accompanying the players to train during rest time, to improve and grow together.
