Hello, everyone. This month’s learning star is Kara Li Xialing from grade 11. She is not only an enthusiastic student who works hard, but is also a helper and a model student.

Classroom Performance:

As a member of the class, Kara’s excellent performance and positive attitude have been recognized by all teachers. Mr. Vuorela, a math and economics teacher, said that Kara always show great efforts in exploring and often find problems through which she will try her best to gain the answers. The reason for this high praise is that she always points out the main points accurately, answering Kara’s questions not only promotes the course, but also helps students better understand the textbook knowledge.

Leadership Opportunities:

In addition to her busy schoolwork, Kara is also very willing to help others to solve their study problems. Her volunteer participation in the school’s Vocabulary Club is just the tip of iceberg. The Club operates based on volunteers’ participation such as Kara, in order to coach students in the first grade of senior high school. Every time the club carries out activities, she can always see in the reading room making sincere suggestions to the students of grade 10. Ms. Ng, the head teacher of the Word Club, paid a heartfelt tribute to Kara: “Kara is a model worthy of learning; her reliability and practical work have made a great contribution to the community!”

Kara’s Attitude:

Kara said that by helping others, her ability also was exercised and improved. “While coaching grade 10’s, I can also review what I’ve learned before,” Kara said. “I find myself able to help with two things. Firstly, the grade 10 students who have just stepped into the high school gate have not found a balance between learning and relaxation yet. However, my supervision can help them concentrate. Secondly, I can give some help in writing their papers, because I have written more papers than they have.

Classmate’s Appreciation:

In the short time since the new launch of Word Club, many Grade 10’s  have received great help from Kara and want to express their thanks to her. Kara’s flexible methods of teaching, especially her way of teaching new vocabulary, have been praised by her classmates. Unlike cramming new words in a single way, Kara always give hints, making sentences and giving examples to make its pronunciation and usage of words livelier.
